“Balancing the Here and There”. Oil on Legion Oil Paper mounted to aluminum panel.  The next piece in this mini series and the last completed -  so far - carried some connections to this world and the other - whatever you believe or not.  It’s Sunday as I am typing this and that is a time that for many years of my youth, I would visit my grandma.  Although she has been gone many years now, I still remember her regularly and carry many memories of her and the person I knew her as.  The objects represent many different things to people and is the beauty of using these in art - you interpret your own translation.  But, with that, I would like to interject a little  of my own.  The scale is there to remind us of the importance of a life balance over time - it has some paint and some patina to show it has served as a reminder for many over time.  The leaves and their fully green color to help with balance and the notion that we leave a piece of our life, our essence - sometimes in the open, sometimes hidden in shadow; private.  The tea cup and medicine bottles - both indirectly represent life juice/nectar - stuff that helps us get through - one we may enjoy, the others not so much.  The feather and cross - faith and beliefs.  The feather was meant to represent the reference in many cultures that some birds(Doves in some cases) offer help/safe transit as spirits/souls move from one plane of existence to another.  To a place of peace. The angel she became (actually was while she was still alive) and the cross for the Christianity she believed.  The green glow represents the life that continues on and holds all of this together while the subdued violet glow on the table - loyalty and faithfulness.  Again- interpret this as you would, and hopefully you enjoy the variety within the work.  Any thoughts?- feel free to leave them below.  In the meantime - Happy Sunday!!
